Dear WCN members,

many of you would know already, in which case this is just a reminder: the =
organisation 350.org with the contribution from partner organisations and n=
etworks such as WCN, has launched the Moving Planet day which can become th=
e largest collective roar demanding climate change is taken seriously by po=
liticians and decision makers. The 350.org team has been very courageous in=
 recent weeks putting pressure to the Obama administration in order to canc=
el a ridiculous and disastrous pipeline that would cross the entire US carr=
ying oil from Canadian tar sands and that would in effect legitimise and op=
erationalise the madness. More than a thousand were arrested for an act of =
civil disobedience in Washington (http://www.350.org/en/about/blogs/courage=
-dc-and-what-comes-next).=20

We decided to join the effort and, although yesterday was our Car Free Day,=
 make tomorrow 24 September the (or another) day of action. There are hundr=
eds of initiatives registered (http://moving-planet.org/map) and if you are=
 organising something and have not done so, please register it so that othe=
rs can know through their website (it is a bit late, though, sorry for that=
!). Please read the below message from Bill McKibben, and pass it around. A=
nd let's make quite some noise tomorrow!

With warm regards,

=C9tienne von Bertrab

> Dear friends,
>=20
> Moving Planet is almost here! There are just three things you need to kno=
w:
>=20
> 1) It's going to be absolutely huge, and you don=92t want to miss it -- t=
here will be thousands of events this weekend, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe=
 and just about everywhere in between. There will be rallies and marches an=
d teach-ins and protests of all kinds. If you don't know which event is clo=
sest to you on Saturday, click here to search the map.
>=20
> 2) It's vitally important. The truth is, we've got lots of work to do to =
solve the climate crisis: big polluters are doing everything in their power=
 to delay real climate action, and they are spending huge amounts of money =
to distort the truth and block progress. But this weekend's events can show=
 the world that a vibrant movement is coming to life -- and that people eve=
rywhere are ready to do whatever it takes to move the world beyond fossil f=
uels.
>=20
> 3) It's about to begin! At the easternmost part of the earth, Moving Plan=
et Day is about to dawn. That means there's not much time left to spread th=
e word to all your networks -- on Facebook, on Twitter, and everywhere else=
.
>=20
> Members of the 350.org team will be in New York City on Saturday, station=
ed right across the street from the United Nations Headquarters. They=92re =
going to set up big screens to show photos and videos from events around th=
e world, ensuring that UN delegates and the global media understand the bre=
adth, power, beauty, and size of the growing grassroots climate movement.
>=20
> So after you go to an event, hurry to a computer and send your best photo=
 as an attachment to [email protected] (Put your city and country i=
n the subject line, and a short description in the body of the email. You c=
an see full instructions for photo submission here.) We won't just be showi=
ng your photos at the UN -- we'll be sending them to the global media, lobb=
ying with them at international climate negotiations, and making YouTube vi=
deos to inspire the world.
>=20
> Saturday's events can=92t change the world overnight -- but they can be a=
 spark that jump-starts a much bigger and broader movement, a movement that=
 the world needs now more than ever before. We know that our work will cont=
inue long after this one day is over.
>=20
> If you participate this weekend, you=92re going to be part of something v=
ery big, and something very important. When you=92re at your local event on=
 Saturday, remember this: whatever you=92re feeling, there are people all o=
ver the world feeling just the same way, moving in just the same ways, drea=
ming of just the same future.
>=20
> Onwards,
>=20
> Bill McKibben for the whole 350.org Team
>=20
> P.S: Thank you so much for spreading the word on Facebook, Twitter, and e=
verywhere else you can.

per limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon d=

 to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get t=
