Assuming it was Al Quaeda, they haven't said *why* they did it, so it seems clear that it's unclear. :> Provoking the US to war would seem to be the obvious motive, unless they were incredibly deluded. Even *if* they did it, it clearly hasn't accomplished that goal, nor could it, in the forseeable future, hope to. And even if it was ever concievable that provoking the US would make them withdraw, what, exactly, is wrong with withdrawing from the Persian Gulf? What right do we have to be there?
