I've today received a couple of notes from Chester Hartman of the really excellent publication, Poverty and Race.  I am indebted to Mr Hartman for a gift sub to that which he arranged about a year ago.  In this, the second note, he makes mention of a new and promising book on Labor, organizing, and civil rights. "A Civil Right to Organize" is the cover article in the Jan./Feb. Poverty & Race, a précis of the similarly titled new book, by Richard Kahlenberg & Moshe Z. Marvit. Accompanying it are short commentaries by civil rights leaders, academics and labor leaders - in the latter category, Larry Cohen of CWA, Randi Weingarten of AFT, and Leo Gerard of the Steelworkers.
