September 12th, 2014 will mark the 16th year anniversary of the arrest of t=
he Cuban 5; three current U.S. held=20
Cuban political prisoners (two were released and live in Cuba)  and=20
incarcerated for protecting Cuba from U.S. sponsored terrorist actions.

In 2006, President Ricardo Alarcon, of the Cuban Parliament, declared=20
Sept. 12th through October 6th to be a period of time to raise awareness on=
 the case of the Cuban 5. The Popular Education Project to Free the=20
Cuban 5 is committed to building an international movement for the Cuban 5=
=E2=80=99s freedom by extending this period of time to be a full month (Sep=
t.=20
12th-October 12th) and calling it "Free the Cuban 5 Month!"

During this month we organize a calendar of events to raise awareness about=
=20
the Cuban 5 and how people can work for their freedom! With the recent rele=
ase=20
of Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, we feel it is time to double our ef=
forts to free Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez, and Ramon Laba=C3=B1ino!=

Saturday October 11th @ 1pm-Freedom Hall Meeting on Political Prisoners 113=
 West 128th St. (between Malcolm X/Lenox & Adam Clayton Powell Blvds.):Radi=
cal Women and Freedom Hall will be hosting a community meeting on=20
Political Prisoners: Nestora Salgado, The Cuban 5, and other political=20
prisoners.  There will be lunch at 1pm and the program begins at 1:30pm.


Featuring:  Updates on the struggles to free those of the Cuban 5 who remai=
n behind bars,=20
indigenous Mexican American community leader Nestora Salgado, and other=20
organizers, fighters and =E2=80=9Chacktivists=E2=80=9D who have challenged =
oppression.=20
Meeting will include opportunity to write and send subscriptions of the Fre=
edom Socialist newspaper to prisoners.
