Divide County, N.D., sometimesreferred to by the Eastern press as =E2=80=9C=
remote=E2=80=9D, is the most northwestern countyin the state.It=E2=80=99s b=
ounded on one sideby Saskatchewan and, on another, by Montana.It=E2=80=99s =
also the initial location of the now widespread, fiscallyprofitable (for so=
me), and environmentally and socially disastrous (for all) Oil Patch.
Oil production at Divide and in someadjoining counties is now slacking off =
considerably.The perennial housing shortage for oilworkers led to active pl=
ans for a large dormitory located in the county.But that=E2=80=99s now on h=
old and may go nowhere.
