First babies of 2011 in New York: Newborns make debut right after stroke of

First baby of the year:  A baby girl born to mom, Mehnaz Waseem, and dad, 
Muhammad Waseem Khan. The baby  girl has not yet been named. 

Two little _Brooklyn_

(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/New+York) 's First Baby of the Year. 
And while the city's first baby boy - a 7 pound 14 ounce "bobasek" named 
_Kacper Kozlowski_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Kacper+Kozlowski)  - was 
born 57 seconds after the clock  struck 2011, he's No. 1 to his mom. 
"The doctor said he may very well be the first baby of the new year," an  
overjoyed _Marta Kozlowski_ 
(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Marta+Kozlowski) , 29, of _Maspeth_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Maspeth) , Queens, 
said of her firstborn. 
"I was like, let me see my baby, I don't care. I'm not going to have 
another  New Years like this again."

Kacper, the son of two Polish immigrants who met and fell in love in _New  
York City_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/New+York+City) , was born at 
_Beth Israel Hospital_ 
(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Beth+Israel+Medical+Center)  in _Manhattan_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Manhattan) . The 
time on his birth certificate reads  12:00:57. 
The time on the birth certificate of _Princess Avana Andrews_ 
(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Avana+Andrews) , who was born at _SUNY Downstate 
Hospital_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/SUNY+Downstate+Hospital)  in 
Brooklyn, reads 12:00:00.  And she arrived a whole month early. 
"For her to be born this early and be this healthy is really special," her  
mom, _Helena  Ross_ (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Helena+Ross) , 32, 
said. 
Little Princess weigh 6 pounds 8 ounces.

"She came out exactly when the ball dropped," said Ross, who has three 
other  kids. "One minute I'm watching _Lady  Gaga_ 
(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Lady+Gaga)  and then she's out watching the TV with us." 
Over at _Coney Island Hospital_ 
(http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Coney+Island+Hospital) , Muhammad and Mehnaz Waseem  proudly displayed the birth 
certificate of their 7 pound 3 ounce daughter, who  was born before they could 
name her. 
It, too, reads 12:00:00. 
"Right now we're calling her the New Year baby," said the proud papa, 37.  
"We'll have to think of something non-traditional because of the special 
time  she was born." 

Kacper's birth certificate says he was born 57  seconds after midnight.

"It's a wonderful way to start the new decade," added the happy 34-year-old 
 mom. "She's perfect and it's a great joy to have a new member to our  
family." 
The Waseems have two other daughters, Aimen, 8, and Annoshe, 6. 
For midwife Aleyamma Philipose, the Waseems' bundle of joy was another  
"first." 
She was on hand four years ago when 5 pound 11 ounce _Zahi  Saher_

a.m., tying Vicki (Shijia)  Tang for first New York baby born in 2006.
