NEW YORK CITY : The 21-year-old daughter of Al Pacino was charged with  
driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by the combined  
influence of drugs and alcohol at around 1:20 a.m. in Manhattan this morning. 
 According to the Daily News, Julie Pacino, who was pulled over at a West 
Houston  Street checkpoint, allegdly told cops, "Yes I was drinking. I had 
about three  beers and I smoked weed at home. That was a few hours ago."
 
Apparently the police pulled her over because her California license plates 
 had an expired registration. The criminal complaint says that Pacino, who 
had a  male passenger in the car, had "watery and bloodshot eyes, had 
slurred speech  and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on [her] breath" and 
blew a 0.12 blood  alcohol on a Breathalyzer (0.08 is the legal limit). She was 
released without  bail and her lawyer said, "She doesn't have anything to 
say right now."
 
Pacino is the daughter of the acting legend and acting coach Jan Tarrant.  
She went to Tappan Zee High School and played softball at UCLA and her 
player  bio says, "her biggest athletic thrill as making the state Final Four in 
2006  ... admires New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter ... favorites 
include the  television show "The Office", actor Brad Pitt, the movie "Superbad" 
and musical  group Red Hot Chili Peppers ... hobbies include watching movies 
with her best  friend ... majoring in english with a career goal of 
becoming a  filmmaker."
 
Last year, beloved Giants quarterback Phil Simms' son, Chris Simms, was  
arrested at the West Houston Street checkpoint and charged with driving while  
stoned; he went to trial and was acquitted.

Al Pacino appears to have made a  dash back to New York today, after his 
21-year-old daughter Julie Marie was  arrested on suspicion of drink driving, 
this morning. 
The actor was seen walking briskly through JFK airport with girlfriend,  
Argentinian actress Lucila Sola, after touching down. 
Julie Marie Pacino is said to have told police she drank 'three beers' and  
had smoked marijuana when they pulled her over in Manhattan early on 
Saturday  morning, according to court documents.

Julie, the Oscar-winning  actor's daughter with his acting coach ex-Jan 
Tarrant, was driving a 2009  Mercedes Benz with an expired California 
registration sticker on West Houston  Street, near Washington Street, in the city's 
West Village at around 1.35am when  she was stopped at a checkpoint.

Ms Pacino, who lives in Texas, was given a Breathalyser test after officers 
 smelled alcohol on her breath, according to reports.
She was arrested and  charged with DWI (driving while intoxicated) and 
driving while ability impaired  by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol, 
and driving while impaired,  according to the sources.
She had a male passenger in the car at the  time.
According to the criminal complaint, Pacino allegedly told  investigators: 
'Yes, I was drinking. I had about three beers and I smoked some  weed at 
home.
'That was a few hours ago.'
The documents claim she had  'watery and bloodshot eyes and had slurred 
speech.'
Her blood alcohol level  was .12 percent, one and a half times the legal 
limit, the court papers  said.
After appearing in Manhattan Criminal Court on Saturday evening, she  was 
released without bail and is due back in court in Manhattan on September  22.
Jeff Berg, the agent of Godfather star Pacino, 71, said he had "no  
knowledge" of the alleged incident.
Julie Pacino has told in the past how her  dream is to become a Hollywood 
director.
Outside the courthouse, Pacino, who  had her license suspended, kept quiet.
'She doesn't have anything to say  right now,' said Bruce Kage, her lawyer.
Her father splits his time between  Los Angeles in New York. 
On their way: Al and Lucila jumped straight  into a car and sped off  
His 31-year-old girlfriend speaks four languages and has a daughter, 
Camila,  who lives with her and Al.
The pair went public with their relationship last  year in April but were 
reported to have split later in the year.
However the  couple looked very much together and in love as they walked 
the red carpet at  the Tony Awards, hand-in-hand, earlier this year.
Al has recently been  filming the as-yet-untitled Phil Spector biopic in 
New York.  
The HBO TV movie follows the story of the Bronx-born music producer, 70, 
who  is currently serving a 19 year prison sentence for the second degree 
murder of  Lana Clarkson.
