Just how Bronx Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera’s dirty-dancing boyfriend landed
on her office’s payroll needs to be investigated, her political rival said
yesterday.
Democratic primary challenger Mark Gjonaj, reacting to a report in
yesterday’s Post, called the hiring of Tommy Torres at Rivera’s Morris Park
district office “a clear impropriety.”
“The public has the right to expect a full investigation into the conflict
of interest by all appropriate government agencies,” he said.
Gjonaj called on the Assembly and the Bronx DA to open a probe.
Rivera, 47, the daughter of former Bronx Democratic Party boss and
Assemblyman José Rivera, put Torres, 39, on her payroll in 2010, ostensibly to
represent her at community events.

Torres, now running for City Council in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was listed
as a full-time employee from Aug. 30, 2010, to Jan. 1, 2011, earning
$18,123. At the same time, he was a full-time gym teacher at PS 157, earning
$89,550, records show.
Using the name Daniela, Rivera had posted photos of them kissing, hugging
and dancing.
