From: Wayne Estes [[email protected]] > If your unloaded bike+body weighs more than 180 pounds, 18 pounds of > cargo adds less than 10% to the total weight. That's not a huge > difference to me. It might not be a huge difference, but it is noticeable when riding. I lost 15lbs of body weight in the fall and it made a pretty big difference in how enjoyable hill climbing was (I've always enjoyed hill climbing, but I was the heaviest I've ever been this summer and needed longer breaks and was going slower than I ever have). It is easier to lose gear weight than body weight. I still hope to be down another 10lbs or so by the time mountain pass riding starts in earnest this year (May or June). alex
