And what's wrong with credit cards? I have not yet toured on the bicycle, but have on the motorcycle earlier in life, and hope to do some touring on bicycle this year...but I have absolutely no interest in camping and the associated paraphenalia. When I stop for the night, I want a decent bed, someone else to cook my food and clean the dishes, shower and toilet that I do not have to share with anyone, and internet access. TV is optional, but a nearby bar is highly necessary.
