I had a Miox for a year, before I realized how pointless it really was. It looks like a large pen, and you put in rock salt and a very small amount of water, and press a button. It essentially breaks apart the two to get chlorine. In other words, it's a battery powered chlorine maker. It's fun and nifty, but for the same weight, you could just carry chlorine with you. The company probably makes a lot of money selling their rock salt bags and special batteries at a high markup - or you could buy chlorine with pocket change. I sold it with no regrets. I find filters to be much more useful too, since I didn't particularly care to drink unfiltered water, even if the stuff in it was dead.
