Folks in the Boston area can ride to a similar destination: Haystack
Observatory, in Groton, Mass. They have a number of large antennas for a
variety of radiotelescopes and radars. Here's a picture of a couple, with my
bike in the foreground, taken during a 60-mile ramble one Saturday this
summer.

When I was in Green Bank , WV this past summer I visited the National Radio
Astronomy Observatory. An amazing place. They have what I would call
satellites dishes but they call them telescopes. One follows the sun 24/7
because flare ups ruin their studies so they keep an eye on them. One of the
telescopes is 2 acres in size and you can get with in 100 feet of it. If you
are interested you can see them at www.nroa.com .
