I have yet to observe drivers mowing down cyclists and/or otherwise
have noted same in the media, and don't necessarily believe that drivers
have in the past mowed down cyclists, are in fact doing it today, or will
otherwise keep in the future mowing down cyclists and pedestrians with no
repercussions

..............I'll keep an eye out tomorrow and report back
