RE:Subject: your worst touring bike

?In 1977 I rode my first tour from Richmond, Va to Boston on my beloved 
Peugeot UO-8 which oscillated badly on downhills carrying a touring load.
I had the steel 40-52 chainwheels and 14-28 freewheel with a Suntour VGT 
Luxe derailleur and bar-end shifters.
My bike shop-purchased rack broke near Hyde Park, NY and I replaced it with 
a Pletscher purchased at a Western Auto that finished the trip intact.  In a 
panic stop on a downhill I skidded through a rear Schwinn LeTour tire.
