Gee, I like my local bike shop in Seattle, Free Range Cycles. They are small, locally owned and I see the owner and others riding when I am commuting.

I like the idea of buying local, particularly since I understand the "velocity of cash" principle. Really helps any area when you buy from local business and with local ownership. Don't need to buy a lot, but when I do I ask them if they have it, need to order it and if so how long will it take. They don't disappoint me. In fact the last "major" purchase of rain pants i bought there ('cause one of the workers recommended them) took about a week to get and I paid less than they estimated. They help me with my odd requests for parts, give free advice and if you are there at the right time you might even be offered a beer along wiith biking bs.

Bought a great Velo Orange mixte there for my wife and the shop and I worked together on what it was and what parts I wanted to assemble.

love 'em,
