Re: your worst touring bike

My Trek 1420 was a 1992 version - eggplant purple. I believe they marketed
it as a sport tourer. But we were fully self contained. I think it was a bit
too much of a load for the bike. I think (but don't quite remember) that I
had to attach the rear rack with P clamps as there weren't any eyelets. I
put many a mile on that bike. It's still around town. The fellow who owns it
now does Ride the Rockies on it every year.

My husband's Sirrus definitely wasn't up to the job, it was breaking spokes.
