RE: Carburetor Tuning

The carbs are supposed to be able to move a little - if they are mounted
rigid on the manifold then the fuel in the float chambers will start to
froth (especially at higher revs) and cause starvation. This is why they
are mounted using Misab springs or nylon bobbins.

Again, this would affect a pair of cylinders at higher revs. By
contrast, the initial (and worthwhile) suggestion of carb balance and
idle mixture settings will only affect low engine speeds - i.e. before
the main circuit is engaged.

>You may have an air leak but it is difficult to have an air leak on a
webber on both chokes.

If the nuts on the mount studs have slackened, the carb can have
wobbled enough to loosen both misab plates / whatever other gubbins is
trying to make a flexible seal to the manifold. Definitely worth
wiggling the carb, see if it's flapping around.
