I wouldn't worry about lighting any screen printed lettering - but the display
itself is important.

When I fitted my bike computer in near-LOS, I got so reliant on it that I
actually had a bit of a panic when it got dark as it was so unnatural for me
to look at the std. speedo. I've had to bodge around this with an blue-LED
torch that sits on my Road Angel :O

I feel a new dash panel coming on... no revcounter, no speedo, only a couple
of the major switches. Dash7 and ACES lights on the scuttle, ACES control unit
blended into the dash a-la Chelspeed, bike computer in front of the passenger
<evil grin>...
