That's a bloody good idea, speed sensor plus direction would be everything
you needed to keep the accelerometers on track.  I would wonder how the
sensor would cope with a rapidly changing environment such as the car, or
indeed all the other electrics around it.  Sounds like a promising thing to
try though.
