We all know about the recent increase in car jacking but it seems the local
criminals have found a better way of taking your car. I know this has
happened now and then in the past but there has been a recent increase in
this recently...

You advertise your pride and joy and soon after you get a call from someone
who is really interested.

They arrive and bring along a couple of mates who also want to see the car,
you are persuaded to take his mates on the test drive, once the interested
buyer gets behind the wheel you are politely asked to leave the car.

I know most people wont take more than 1 person on a test drive but just
recently in Manchester there have been several cases of this sort of
carjacking.

Worth keeping in mind when it comes to test drives.....

Some tips, only take 1 or max 2 (couples etc), before you go on your test
drive tell someone how long you will be gone for, where you are going etc.
Remove your house keys from the keys, also remove the alarm fob and put it
in your pocket. If you are unsure of who is coming to look at the car block
the target car in with another car before hand so if you dont want to take
them on a drive you can say the wife has gone out and take her keys with her
that way it does not look obvious.... make a note of the registration of the
car they arrive in, also note the model and colour and any distinguishing
features. If you are in doubt and turn them away pass their details onto
the local police, also request a visit. Try not to let them into your house
unless you are sure they are genuine.
