Someone mentioned (can't find the exact post at the moment) using a small
12V pump on the bike and clipping off the cigarette lighter adapter and
putting on alligator clips. For those of us with the Gerbings connector
already wired to our batteries, couldn't we just wire up one of those
gerbings-type plugs after clipping off the cigarette lighter adapter? This
way, we could hook up the pump w/out having to remove the seat to get at the
battery. Any reason this wouldn't work?

The Gerbings plug would likely cost more than the pump itself, but the
convenience of not having to remove the seat might be worth it in my
opinion, despite my usual miserly approach to these sort of things.

Of course, the downside would be that if you were out on a ride with someone
who didn't have the Gerbings harness hooked to their battery and you needed
to re-inflate one of their tires, you'd still have to remove your seat and
take off the Gerbings harness, connect it to the pump and attach the whole
thing to the other person's bike.
