Thire reminds me of when I was at a computer show back in the 80's, when computer shows were a good place to pick up equipment at good prices. (Wow, only $4 for a floppy disk! Radio Shack sells them for $10!) I went to a guy selling monitors and he told me that his particular monitor, which was off, actually produced a blacker black than other monitors when it's on and running. I asked him how the screen could possibly be blacker than when it was off, and he told me it was a "luminescent black". From then on, I took all electronic advice as simply "Suggested Servings" with less truth to it and more "pretending to know what you are talking about" in it.
