I've rented both a cargo van and the U-haul enclosed trailers to pull with
my car,   I haven't owned either.  So my limited viewpoint is that the
advantage of the van is that it's much easier to deal with in parking lots
and so forth and you don't have to worry about someone stealing your trailer
or where to store it once you get to your destination. You can also travel
faster when you're not pulling a trailer, especially a single axle trailer,
generally speaking. The advantage of the trailer method is that you can take
more passengers.
