Well, without breaking the chain, yeah that's right -
you have to remove the swingarm.
But, that is probably a blessing because if your bike
is old enough to need a new chain, then your swingarm
bearing and suspension link bearings surely could
benefit from from a cleaning and fresh grease -
particularly if your bike is stored outdoors. It is
definitely a pretty involved job (not hard though),
but it will make the suspension work better and last
longer. These points are notoriously lacking grease
from the factory (as is the steering bearings) - but
that keeps the revenue coming in the form of bearings,
seals and labor for Suzuki. Grease is not expensive,
Suzuki knows what they are doing ;>)
