If I need really smooth off/on throttle transitions, I try to keep engine around 5000+ RPM. Otherwise I just live with it. It's seems that I've learned subtle things to make the effect less, but I can't consciously name what I'm doing different than when I was new to the bike (but then again, I was new to bikes in general then, and had much less throttle hand coordination.)
