Cordura/Textile has the advantage of generally being waterproof and
usually having goretex-like stuff inside. Getting caught in the rain is
not as bad with cordura!

Leather, is Fonzi cooler.

If you are an environmentalist, you choose ... using leather (hey, what the
heck, we ate the cow/deer/sheep already anyway!) or using synthetic
fibers (hey, what the heck, the petroleum used to make the jacket doesn't
compare to the amount we're pumping into the tank anyway!)

I've ridden in both a full one piece cordura suit and two piece leathers,
and
I can tell you that on a hot day, I actually prefer the leathers EXCEPT that
my
fore arms, where the sleeve and the gauntlets of my gloves (whatever you
call that) sweat like mad. A well zipper/vented leather jacket (even if it's
black coloured) feels cooler to me, maybe it wicks away sweat better?

In the winter, the cordura suit suits me better as I can wear more clothes
under it. But that's a matter of fit.

I think also, that as you get fatter, leather is more "giving" whereas
cordura
is designed to not 'give'.

My knee agrees with you. :)

The highest priority for padding, IMHO, is back, knees/shins and
elbows. Only slightly lower is shoulders and hips. Buy a set of
armored cordura over pants as well as a good armored jacket. They're
not that expensive and they work.
