600 mile service

  I chose to bring my SV in for the 600 service at the dealer for a number of reasons.  This was a brand new bike and even though I have been servicing cars for years, I still have a lot to learn about motos.  I also wanted to have less hassles with warranty questions if anything should come up.  Even though there is a federal law that states a manufacturer cannot force us to have our dealers provide the service to maintain warrantees, I would anticipate a lot of resistance from the dealer in supporting me if there is a warrantee issue.  It's also sort of insurance (ok, for some this is a bad word) that I am willing to 'invest' to avoid any problems.  After that service, I will tackling it myself and save the bucks.

I just reached 600 miles on my '06 SV naked. Should I take it in to
be serviced or can I do this myself? If I can do it myself, what
things should I check or replace?

600 mile service consists of an oil change
and a check of torque on major chasis bolts.
yes you can do it your self also walmart
sells the oil filter.
