Erik, do you mean the *nut* that holds the mirror on?  I'm confused.

On all the '01 and '02 SVSs I've seen (mine included) the two nuts on each side
are 6mm allen, sort of "top hat" shaped.

If you have a torx nut and an allen nut, the question is "who put that damn
thing there?"

nuts are item 10 (but they don't look like the drawing).  The studs are part of
the mirror, as you can see, but they can be removed from the mirror body with a
3mm allen wrench.  You don't need to remove them to remove the mirror from the bike.
