Maybe at some time you over rode the Mode to WFM or NFM instead of AM or vice versa. That would do it! Or Maybe your squelch was in manual at the highest point there are NUMEROUS settings on the R-2 that could cause problems if they are accidentally overrode or turned on. Good Luck.
