tk2 v1.0 open source software for ICOM IC-R2 available

tk2 v1.0 is now available for free download.  tk2 is open source,
multi-platform software for configuring the ICOM IC-R2 receiver.

I wrote tk2 chiefly for radio hobbyists who use Linux, MacOS X,
BSD, Solaris, Unix, or other non-Windows operating systems.
tk2 works on Windows-based systems (95 and later), too.

Changes in version 1.0 include:

  -This version of tk2 requires Tcl/Tk version 8.4 or later.
  
  -The serial port DTR line is held low for compatibility
  with certain RS232-to-TTL interface cables.
  
  -Users can configure the serial port RTS line be held high,
  but it is held low by default.
  
  -Support has been added for the Purple Computing PCL35S
  RS232-to-TTL cable on Red Hat Linux 8.0 and Windows 98.
  
  -When tk2 starts, the Duplex field value will be initialized
  to blank (i.e., simplex) in memory channels.
  
  -Frequencies are now displayed to 10 Hz, e.g., 144.00000 MHz.
  
  -The Limit Search banks are now forced to Simplex, an offset of 0.0,
  and the Tone Squelch set to Off.
  
  -The serial port will be opened and configured only
  when required to communicate with the radio.
  
  -Warnings will be displayed for frequencies which are
  are not compatible with step size.
  
  -Warnings will be displayed when encoding frequencies
  in the 0.495 - 1.620 MHz range which are not compatible
  with 9 kHz step radios. 
  
  -Error messages will be displayed when attempting to encode
  frequencies in the 0.495 - 1.620 MHz range
  if the mode is FM or WFM and the radio is a 9 kHz step version.
  
  -Tuning step size for frequencies in the 0.495 - 1.620 MHz
  range will be validated against the radio version.
  Radios which support a 9 kHz step size must have a 9 kHz step size
  specified.  Radios which support a 10 kHz step size cannot have a
  9 kHz step size specified.
  
  -Fixed a bug in the memory channel display
  logic which caused memory channel settings to be displayed
  in a scrolled window and tabbed notebook simultaneously
  under certain conditions.
  
  -Added a few notes in the README file.
