Hi Thor,

1) Are you sure that /dev/ttyS0 is the correct device for
the serial port connector on you computer?

2) What cable/level converter are you using to connect
the PC to the IC-R2?

3) Which distribution of Linux are you using?

4) In a Linux command window, type:

   uname -a
   ls -l /dev/ttyS0

What are the results?

5) Connect the radio to the PC and turn the radio on (use battery power).
Remove the $HOME/.tk2rc file.
Start tk2 and select the proper serial port.
In tk2, use the "Radio --> Interrogate Radio for Model Info"
command. After using this command, what is displayed
in the Radio Version field in the Secondary Controls window?

Thanks.
