VFO frequency search.

Hi all,
I'm new to this group so please be gentle with me.
I have recently just bought an R2 and just wondered if some clever person(s=
) could tell me how i start a basic new frequency search whilst in VFO mode=
. On all my other scanners you can enter the starting frequency say for exa=
mple 160.000 then press search and the scanner will search through all of t=
he following frequencies until i press search again to stop it or it comes =
across an active frequency. Is it possible to do this on the R2 (without ha=
ving to select scan edges or upper and lower frequencies), basically all i =
want to do is select a start point/frequency and then set it searching for =
active frequencies until i decide to stop it manually or it finds an active=
frequency. I read somewhere that you can do this by holding in the FUNC bu=
tton and then pressing the up or down arrows but when i do this all i get i=
s 2 beeps (of different sounding tones), if i hold the arrow buttons in for=
a couple of seconds it then starts to scan the CT codes but this is not wh=
at i'm after.
Also on my R5 you can select whether the rotary dial selects volume and the=
up/down arrows select frequency stepping or you can reverse this so that t=
he up/down arrows control the volume and the rotary dial controls frequency=
stepping.
