I have the same problem with a year old Duracell 2700 mah battery pack
apparently not charging like it should as the scanner beeps after an
hour of listening. I measured the 7.6 volt charge and I decided that
maybe I needed to go BACKWARD in Battery and capacity. I purchase 4
1000mah NiCd Batteries and built my own pack. NiCd takes less time to
charge and possibly since the batteries were such a high capacity that
even a day was not the most efficient charge of the battery pack. I
can get by with 1000 mah vs 2700mah and if its more efficient it will
last me longer anyway.

IF This is not the case I will post an update as I just installed the
new batteries and have them on charge...

Also the purchased stock cells are easier to hotmelt glue than the
store branded stuff as the stock cells plastic is thicker and will not
melt as fast.
