Hand programming the BC245xlt is not that difficult, just time consuming. Unlike hand programming recent two-way radios, with all the variables that are involved, programming the BC245xlt is relatively easy.
I recently bought a BC245xlt on eBay mostly because it does not need bit selection when listening to a particular group (such as +3 for patch). The older bc235xlt did require the +3 programming.
However, I did not sell the bc235xlt - it has one feature missing on some newer scanners - the search feature with lower and upper limits.
