After may years, I have not figured out another way to program talk group IDs- I resorted to driving to where there was a strong enough signal that it didn't drop, then punch in all my IDs from a list. Back when I first gor my 245, the software for programming was prohibitively expensive for me (ScanCat), so I didn't consider using a computer. I just found my programming cable after having misplaced it for a few years. I might go back to studying this scanner. My 246t is my main scanner, so I haven't worked the 245 keyboard in ages. They're different animals- the 246t was quite a job to learn. My 245 was a frustrating radio when I first tried to program IDs in a fringe area. Yes it does halt your progress when the control channel gets lost. --- On Sun, 12/27/09, jrmacgreg <rmacgregor-21a9/[email protected]> wrote: > From: jrmacgreg <rmacgregor-21a9/[email protected]> > Subject: [BC245XLT] How can I manually program IDs into a Scan List without signal? > To: [email protected] > Date: Sunday, December 27, 2009, 1:47 PM > I just bought a used BC245 and I am > not sure if this in normal. > I do not have a program cable so I have t0 program it > through the keyboard.I am programmed for a motorola type 2. > > I can not manually program IDs into a bank unless I have a > usable signal on the control channel.
