Years ago my 245 went quiet and when I couldn't get weather I thought it was time for surgery. When I opened the case I found the antenna connection from the PC board to the BNC connector was broken. A bit of solder would take care of that, but to take another cautious step, I replaced the stiff wire link with a stranded wire. The more flexible wire offered more give and resistance to the same fault again. That joint is a bit fragile.
