That was it! The antenna lead had broken off the PCB. I soldered it back on and now I am hearing some traffic. Thanks! john From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of don robinson Sent: Saturday, February 27, 2010 3:44 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BC245XLT] Hollis, NH activity? Years ago my 245 went quiet and when I couldn't get weather I thought it was time for surgery. When I opened the case I found the antenna connection from the PC board to the BNC connector was broken. A bit of solder would take care of that, but to take another cautious step, I replaced the stiff wire link with a stranded wire. The more flexible wire offered more give and resistance to the same fault again. That joint is a bit fragile. --- On Sat, 2/27/10, W.John Guineau <[email protected] <mailto:guineau%40earthlink.net> > wrote: > From: W.John Guineau <[email protected] <mailto:guineau%40earthlink.net> > > Subject: [BC245XLT] Hollis, NH activity? > To: [email protected] <mailto:BC245XLT%40yahoogroups.com> > Date: Saturday, February 27, 2010, 5:30 AM > Sorry if this is redundant or just > way too basic for this group.
