Some Questions/Thoughts

Has anyone tried to use a serial to wireless adaptor to connect to
their PC scanner?

I was originally thinking of trying to make my scanner a wireless-g
device. However, I recently discovered the next Service Pack for
Windows XP (SP2 currently in beta testing) will support Bluetooth
technology and also have the ability to map virtual com ports to
Bluetooth. This interests me greatly and appears I could set it up for
about 200 bucks maybe 250 and I may try it soon.

Going along with that, does anyone know if the ARC250 Butel software
for Pocket PC is going to be sold minus the kit from scannermaster?
Would it work say with an IPAQ that is bluetooth enabled..for say
field programming? (Working on the assumption that you could make the
scanner bluetooth enabled, and map a com port in Windows CE) Just an
idea...

Last question, has anyone heard whether Uniden plans on getting a clue
and ditching the serial port for a USB port? Or if they have any plans
to go to a software volume/squelch control so that PC control software
can control it..

If you have come here to find out about the 785D you have come to the right
place! In fact the discussion of the BC-785D and how it works is the only
acceptable topic on this list. Any discussion about anything other than the
BC-785D is OFF TOPIC. I hope this is clear to all group members..
