No worries. I always try to go for the simple solutions first. At lease you’ve found the latch.

 

A bit of a search around may find a suitable spring from somewhere. Maybe a hobby shop of some sort may have something suitable.

called yaesu again- first time they said no parts available, tried again yesterday and they found 1 latch, no spring though,

said parts for the 100 will not be restocked. turns out screw is still in the board next to where latch is, hunting up tiny spring
