Hi David, I am on nights until Wednesday so I am going to use a different psu and try it.

Hi Chris 
Can you please test your voltage under load, clean the fuses and holders/power connections, are you using the radio in a car or running of a mains psu,
when I had a ft100D in the car I used a voltage booster, as when the ft100 voltage drops just a bit, the tx audio can distort ,I tried a low voltage dropout reg in the radio but this did not help, this was some time ago a few years, but I did post on this forum at the time,
