Brian, The VR-500 is tunable in 50 Hz steps but the display only shows 100 Hz changes. There are a few things that you need to know though and you should do your homework before buying one. I've really dug into the performance of this receiver and have made a number of technical posts on this subject in the past. search through the archives. If you are going to set up fixed frequencies like W1AW code practice or SSTV freqs or PSK-31 then it will work just wonderful once you understand the frequency tuning quirks. If you plan on using it to tune across the band and listen around then it will not behave like a typical SSB receiver. It is not substitute for a good general purpose shortwave receiver I've owned one for many years and use it for monitoring HF milcom, aeronautical com and fixed freq ham nets. It works wonderful in those applications. The ultimate bottom line on the VR-500 in USB, LSB or CW modes you may be somewhat disappointed if using it for some ham purposes.
