Hi all !

My radio does somewhat the opposite to yours : I can never get my s-
meter to full scale no matter how strong the signal is. This occured
after getting the double line on the bandscope. I still have to find
a fix for this problem as there is no authorize Yaesu Repair
facilities in my country.

Try this procedure. It's the one for curing the Double Line in the
Bandscope problem; it might help.

ATT 0ff (Func + 8)
Enter Menu (Func + ent)
Menu items 5, 6, & 19 set to off
Menu items #23 anything but off, #10 Key beep On
Menu item 1 in Manual
Make sure in NFM
Enter 1250.375 followed by enter
Func + 5 (long press)
Then choose menu 1 (press 1)
Enter 123.125 followed by enter
Func + 5 (long press)
Choose menu 2 (press 2)
Enter 448.25 followed by Enter
Func +5 (long press)
Choose Menu 3 (press 3)
Battery icon should be flashing ... if not restart the procedure
until it does !!
Tune strong station on NFM
Func + 9 (S meter set)appears
Func + 1 (S meter +) appears
Press BS ( a beep will be heard)
Tune a weak station on NFM : scanner with no antenna and flat batts
in handi talkie ;-)
Func + 2
Press BS until beep is heard
Press CLR (VR500 restarts)
