Maybe the batteries you put in were also dead too? I changed out the batteries, but that didn't help. I also completely reset the scanner, but that was no help either. Sometimes I can get it to stop flashing by turning it off and on quickly, but once it starts scanning again it begins to blink again (and the scanning stops, too).
