It's a mono jack for audio, but it accepts a stereo plug, which is used for programming. I bought a $1 pair of stereo earbuds in a dollar store, clipped off the earbud that didn't work when plugged into the radio, and use the other one as an earpiece. $1 earbuds are not music quality, but are acceptable for much of what we listen to on a VR-500. The "heartbeat" I can hear in better earbuds caused by the battery saver can not be heard in my cheap earbud. I used to buy the $3 mono earpieces from Radio Shack, but they discontinued them some time ago. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
