BUY VR-120D OR VR-500

How about some input from you folks. I want to buy a portable 
reciever, pick up some short wave, police, aircraft, etc. should I buy 
the VR=120D or the VR-500. I alreadey have a VR-5000 at home that I 
have to set up. I would appreciate any help you could give me on which 
scanner to buy.
