FW: Receiver Recommendation Please

The method that my friends use only works at close range. It would not work
for guys flying falcons because they range much too far, but the only time
that I have ever lost a bird, it was within a hundred yards or less, such as
under a ground level cedar tree or in very heavy cover eating a kill. It
happens ocassionly when you are trying to watch a dog, bird and prey at the
same time. I lost a Harris hawk a couple of years ago and finally found her
under a low-hanging cedar about 50 feet from where I lost her. She was
mantling over a cottontail trying to hide from the local red tail hawk.

I'm at a loss at to how these folks do direction finding without a 
directional antenna. There is *one* technique I know of .. but it is a very 
specialized technique not known to many outside those who practice "fox 
hunting".
