True for all of us.  I put the 500 aside for a while and used a 120 for 
a long time.  There are advantages and disadvantages to both.  I forgot 
how quick and easy the 500 is to set up and use in the field.

I use it for SWLing, satellite work, and fox hunting, as well as for 
monitoring ham repeaters and public safety channels.  It is a pretty 
versatile radio.  My only real complaint with it is that you get almost 
no warning when the battery is going to die, and then it can mess up 
the bandscope.
