Chuck, Welcome to the club of happy VR-500 owners! I've had good luck using mine mobile with a magmount 20" scanner antenna on the car roof, and a cassette adapter (with mono=>stereo adapter plug) in the tape deck. If you don't have a tape deck, one of those little FM transmitters should work nearly as well. Keeping the VR-500 volume low while adjusting the car stereo volume gives the best audio. If your car stereo has an equalizer, you can tailor the audio quite nicely. With this setup and the VF-500 in NAM mode, I've enjoyed lots of shortwave broadcast listening on long road trips. The 20" wire antenna obviously isn't resonant, but performs surprisingly well with the ground plane of a car roof. http://www.grove-ent.com/procomm.html Good luck, -Ed Quoting [email protected]: > My new VR-500 has arrived, and is HOT on HF using my Miracle Ducker > with 18" of stiff wire.
