Yes I advise against attaching a telescopic antenna to the Miracle
Ducker, it is very unwieldy as you say and puts way too much stress on
the connectors. I had to have my Miracle Ducker repaired after using a
whip with it. Much lighter-weight antennas can be devised using
flexible but stiff wire such as is found on toy remote controls, and
the huge gain the Miracle Ducker provides allows short lengths of wire
to be very usable.

My new VR-500 has arrived, and is HOT on HF using my Miracle Ducker
with 18" of stiff wire. I'm very pleased with this radio's
performance. Stay tuned for more comments.
