I agree, there appears to be a lot of leverage if you connect the MW
directly to the VR-500. As a stock unit, there doesn't appear to be a
clean solution.  I do have a suggestion though.  I don't have a Miracle
whip but have used velcro to attach a small AM loop antenna (mounted in
a small plastic box) to the back of my VR-500. I use a 6" M-M BNC 
jumper cable to connect to the VR-500.  If I owned a MW, I would do
something similar and would also replace that PL-259 with a female BNC.
I also use the velcro to attach the VR-500 to my car dashboard.  Works
great & have had the original velco on the VR-500 for over 8 years now.
